2016 Velenosi Ludi Rosso 750ml

The 2016 Velenosi Offida Rosso Ludi displays an impenetrably dark purple hue in the glass, and offers scents of ripe cherry, blueberry, confectioner’s spice and dried florals. Silky textures are contrasted by tart red and black fruits, minerals and zesty acids, displaying remarkable balance and poise for such a large-scale wine, as savory herbal tones develop toward the close. The finish is long and structured; fine tannins clench the senses with youthful grip and a slight twang of citrus accentuates the inner violet floral tones. This is very well done, a blend of 85% Montepulciano with equal parts of Cabernet and Merlot, aged 18 to 24 months in French oak of various sizes. Drinking window: 2022 - 2028. Rated 92 Points Vinous.
