Besides the scenic beauty of the Finger Lakes Region in Upstate New York, it’s also a mecca for wine lovers. With a unique microclimate perfectly conducive to growing grapes, it’s the largest wine-producing area in the US east of California. And as of 2023, there were over 130 wineries in total. With August through October being the peak time for wine tastings and festivals, we thought we’d share some of our top New York State wines for late summer and fall.

  • Three Brothers Bagg Dare Dogs Head Red - Straight out of the Finger Lakes Region, this is a one-of-a-kind combination of Merlot and Diamond. It has a signature sweet taste that gradually mellows on your tongue. $11.99 for a 750ml bottle.
  • 2022 Dr. Frank Semi-Dry Riesling - This impressive Riesling has received some serious accolades, including winning the Double Gold Medal Tasters Guild International Wine Competition. It comes from the heart of the Finger Lakes Region and has a tropical taste with a delicious mix of honey, pear, and pineapple for a great balance of sweetness and tartness. It pairs well with spicy foods and most Middle Eastern and Asian Cuisines. $15.99 for a 750ml bottle.
  • 2022 Ravines Dry Rose Pinot Noir - Ravines was the very first Finger Lakes winery to establish a dedicated rose program, and you can taste the quality in this outstanding bottle. It’s one of our personal favorites and has been rated 92 points by Lisa’s Liquor Barn staff. If you’re looking for a delicate late-summer rose with just the right amount of zip, we highly recommend it. $16.99 for 750ml.
  • 2019 Living Roots Grenache Grevillea - Located in Rochester, NY, Living Roots Wine & Co. delivers a standout grenache with a robust flavor, featuring dark cherry, strawberry, and floral notes. If you want a delicious medium-body wine that pairs perfectly with roasted meats, you’ll want to give this grenache a try. $26.99 for 750ml.
  • 2021 Wagner Barrel Fermented Chardonnay - This final Finger Lakes wine offers a rich, creamy vanilla aroma with a full-bodied flavor, featuring notes of pears and melons. $12.99 for 750ml.
