2016 Emeritus Pinot Noir 750ml
In 2016 we had our earliest bud break to date because of a warm winter. During bloom, the weather was cold and cloudy which resulted in uneven fruit set. Even with that Hallberg Ranch showed no signs of water stress due to our practice of dry-farming. We had our earliest harvest ever which yielded very small, concentrated berries and lower yields than we’ve seen for many years.
This wine has the signature cranberry, sour black cherry and dried orange rind aromas, complimented by lightly toasted nuts and licorice. Driven by black spice, earth and a hint of fresh tea leaf, the flavors of the many clones and blocks reveal themselves in multiple layers. The 2016 Hallberg Ranch is gorgeous now and will reward those who are able to wait.
